Basil Bennett
Basil Bennett ( Basil B. Bennett, last name also spelled Bennet, born November 30, 1894 in Dudley, Edgar County, Illinois; † August 19, 1938 in Maywood, Illinois) was an American hammer thrower.
At the Olympic Games in Antwerp in 1920 he won the bronze medal with 48.25 m behind compatriot Pat Ryan ( 52.875 m) and the Swede Carl Johan Lind ( 48.43 m).
His personal best of 48.27 meters he introduced on 1 September 1923 in Chicago as third in the U.S. Championships.
Basil Bennett graduated from the University of Illinois.
