Basil Onomagoulos

Basil Onomagulos (Greek Βασίλειος Ὀνομάγουλος; † 717 ) was a Byzantine Emperor Opposite to Sicily in the year 717

Basil was born the son of Gregory Onomagulos in Constantinople Opel. He belonged to the retinue of strategists of Sicily, Sergios, who crowned him on the news of the alleged fall of Constantinople to the Arabs out, in the year 717, Emperor. When Emperor Basil took the name Tiberius. After the rapid collapse of the uprising he was beheaded along with his Monostrategos Georgios, while Sergio was able to escape to the Lombards.
