Basilica of St Therese of the Child Jesus, Cairo

The Basilica of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus is a Roman Catholic church in Cairo's Shubra district in Egypt. 1921 settled there Carmelites down and devoted their chapel of St. Therese of Lisieux. The increasing influx of visitors and admirers led to the decision to build a large church. The foundation stone was laid in 1931, completed the construction project in 1932. The church stands since the Apostolic Vicariate of Alexandria. On 8 July 1972, she was promoted to minor basilica.

Saint Theresa is in Cairo by Catholics and Copts and also by many Muslims, especially women, visited and venerated. Hundreds of votive tablets, which are attached to the walls of the crypt, bear witness to this.
