Bat-El Gatterer

Bat -El Gatterer (Hebrew: בת אל גטרר; born February 4, 1988 in Kochaw Yaakov ) is an Israeli Taekwondoin. It starts in the weight class up to 57 kg.

Her first international title fights denied Gatterer at the European Junior Championship in 2002 in Heraklion, but where they left early. In the following years, she started regularly at youth competitions, but could not achieve a podium. In the adult area, she made her debut in the class up to 59 kg at the 2006 European Championship in Bonn. Completely surprisingly, Gatterer qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. In the category up to 57 kg she left in the opening fight against Martina Zubčić and finished third in the final standings in eleventh. At the World Championships in Copenhagen in 2009, she reached the second round, but then defeated Edina Kotsis. The greatest success of her career Gatterer celebrated at the European Championships 2010 in Saint Petersburg. In the category up to 57 kg she beat in the semifinals and the finals Deborah Louz Juliya Podolyan and won her first international title. At the 2011 World Championships in Gyeongju Gatterer could again reach the second round, she defeated there, however, Lim Su- jeong.

Gatterer acquired in their home country media attention because it is one of the few Olympic participants from the Israeli settlements. She grew up as the daughter of French émigrés in the West Bank. Gatterer starts for the club Achea Wuhdi Jerusalem and is trained by Noa Shmida. In 2008, she began a two-year military service in the Israeli army.
