Bat Lash

Bat Lash is the title of a series of comic publications are issued by the U.S. publisher DC Comics since 1968.

Batlash is about the adventures of a mischievous and charming dandy cowboys, experienced in the period from the end of the Wild West era in the frontier areas of the United States historically more or less plausible adventure. The Bat Lash stories are naturally located in the genre of Wild West comics, but have also picaresque trains on.

Publications under the title Bat Lash

The concept for the Bat Lash stories was 1967/1968 designed the basic features of the former draftsman and former senior editor at DC Publisher Carmine Infantino and his fellow editors Joe Orlando. Infantino and Orlando gave their rough draft for the new series to the authors and illustrators Sergio Aragonés and the authors Sheldon Mayer with the job, these work out to a whole series concept further. After the refinement of Infantinos and Orlando Concept by Aragonés and Mayer the first Bat Lash story in issue # 76 of the anthology series Showcase 1968 was published. This first story was not written by Mayer and drawn by Aragonés. For soon it started second -monthly independent Bat Lash series Aragonés was hired as a plot -author, while Dennis O'Neil on the basis of plots Aragonés wrote the dialogues that eventually appeared in the finished booklets. The artist Nick Cardy finally got the drawings for the series, which was canceled after only 8 issues.

In later years, more Bat Lash stories as a back -up stories were published in series like Action Comics or Weird Western Tales.

Main character and action

The title Hero of the Bat Lash stories, Bartholomew Alouysius Lash, named Bat Lash, is a jovial man in his late twenties / early thirties years after the murder of his parents and siblings goal and haphazard - but without inner bitterness - runs through the sparsely populated outpost of civilization in the border areas in the Midwestern United States, where even the "law of Coltes " applies.

Although Bat Lash hates any kind of conflict, especially physical violence of any kind, but understood nevertheless admirably out to defend with the revolver and his fists, which fact alone, is essential because it has the inconvenient habit of problems of any sort of outright magnetically attract. The result is that the charming rascal among countless noncommittal romances and his second passion, card games, always caught in the crossfire evil machinations. Thus Bat Lash must again and again with Desperados, bounty hunters and horned him husbands, with sheriffs, Indians, trappers, mucking around with cattle thieves and charlatans, he can play thanks to its quick fists and his clever cunning.

Adaptations

The episode The Once and Future Thing Part 1: Weird Western Tales the animated series Justice League Unlimited tells a Western history in which, among other things, Bat Lash ( voiced by Ben Browder ) and Jonah Hex, another Western hero of DC, occur.

Prices

Bat Lash in 1968 and 1969 won the Alley Award for Best Western comic.
