Baths of Diocletian

The Baths of Diocletian (Italian Terme of Diocletian ) was a bath complex in ancient Rome.

Overview

The Baths of Diocletian were built in the years 298-306 of allegedly 40,000 slaves and were next to the Baths of Caracalla to the largest thermal baths in town. The plant measured 376 m × 361 m and offered up to 3000 bathers place.

537 the Goths destroyed the Roman aqueducts, which the bathing ended. The decaying buildings were put to other uses, in part, they served as a quarry.
