The Battle of Cedar Creek or Battle of Belle Grove was a battle in the American Civil War, which took place in Virginia October 19, 1864 in the Shenandoah Valley. It was named after the eponymous creek. Here the Confederates under General Jubal Early attacked in the early morning the troops of the Northern States in their camp and they could almost seven kilometers push back. The Army of Northern States was in disarray. General Philip Sheridan managed to collect the scattered troops and with the intact VI. Corps to form a counter-attack. Under severe losses for the southern surprised Early was repulsed.
