Battle of Champion Hill

The Battle of Champion Hill ( Bakers Creek and Battle of the called ) was a battle of the American Civil War. It took place on 16 May 1863 and was the decisive battle of the Second Vicksburg campaign.

In the battle the Tennessee Army triumphed under Major General Ulysses S. Grant on the Mississippi Army under Lieutenant General John C. Pemberton.

Pemberton had to switch to Vicksburg after the loss of nearly 4,000 men and 29 cannons.
