The Battle of Blumenau was the last battle of the German war between Prussia and the Austrians on 22 July 1866. In southern Germany, the Federal troops fought but still up to July 29.

After their victory in the Battle of Hradec Kralove and rejection of an Austrian truce offer, the Prussian armies were resting a few days before they set out to march against Vienna. The Elbe Army occupied on July 8, Prague, the First Army marched to Brno, the second to Olomouc.

The defeated remnants of the Austrian army retreated north with the allied Saxony to Vienna. The southern army that had previously fought against the Italians, was ordered also to Vienna.

The tips of the Prussian army arrived at the March Field on July 20. The decisive battle seemed imminent. As the Prussian IV Corps was advancing under Fransecky to Pressburg, it came on 22 July to a fight in Blumenau (today Lamač, district of Bratislava / Pressburg ). Around noon hunted zoom truce and brought news of a five-day ceasefire. The Austrians were then able to escape to Bratislava.

Vienna was spared from the struggle and the Prussian King Wilhelm failed his army to invade the city not only out of respect for the underdog, but most of all he gave the massive pressure of his prime minister and later Chancellor Bismarck. This had suspected the foresight that a waiver of the invasion of Vienna, the Austrians could have later become allies, so the enemy would make by dispensing with humiliation as a friend. And so it happened. In the German -Prussian War Austria remained neutral and was later ally of the newly founded German Empire.

It was followed by the preliminary peace of Mikulov on 26 July and on 23 August 1866, the Peace of Prague.
