Course

The Spartan king Leotychidas and the Athenian general Xanthippos triumphed over the Persians. The Greeks destroyed (this time also supported by the Ionians ) the remnants of the Persian fleet, which had survived the Battle of Salamis. The fight took place on land, as the Persian ships had been drawn under the protection of the army on land. The Greek troops destroyed the ships there during and after the battle with the Persian garrisons.
