The Battle of Oudenaarde was fought during the War of Succession.

The town of Oudenaarde is in East Flanders, 55 km from Brussels. The battle took place on 11 July 1708. Against 80,000 French, under the command of the Duke of Vendome and Burgundy were 70,000 allied British, Prussians and Dutch in under the command of the Duke of Marlborough and Prince Eugene of Savoy. The French were defeated and the Allies were at the end of the year conquer the heavily fortified city of Lille.
