In the Battle of Talas in Taras the Abbasid Caliphate won under General Ziyad ibn Salih 751 on the back had penetrated under the Korean General Gao Xianzhi after Transoxiana Chinese (Tang Dynasty ). The reason for China's defeat could be that the fighting in the Chinese army auxiliaries ( Karluks, Oghuz ) defected to the Muslims, because Gao Xianzhi had applied with the autocratic beheading of Prince from Tashkent against him.

It was one of the decisive battles of world history (even if considered only in retrospect, as the military defeat less weighed heavily in itself; addition, the victory did not attract much attention from contemporary chroniclers ), since the Chinese influence has been pushed back, and Islam were received by the Turkic peoples of Central Asia took place and since then is one of the Islamic world. Among the Chinese prisoners included experts in papermaking, which should thus have brought this knowledge to the Islamic world ( in fact there were quite a few decades earlier paper mills, as Chinese craftsmen were already established).
