Bauchi

Bauchi (formerly Yakoba ) is the capital of the Nigerian state. It is located in the center of the African country, on the northeastern edge of the Jos Plateau at 616 m above sea level. Calculations according to the 2012 Bauchi has 301 284 inhabitants.

After imposing a ban on demonstration against the Islamist group Boko Haram broke end of July 2009 riots in Bauchi, which further widened to Yobe, Borno and other regions. At least 200 people were killed in no time. In the same province Bauchi since 2001, Sharia law in force.
