Baude Cordier

Baude Cordier ( * before 1364 in Reims, † before 1400 in Dijon ) was a French composer and harpist of the early Renaissance.

Life

It is believed that he was actually Baude Fresnel Baude Cordier and his stage name was (French: cordier = tailpiece, string player), occasionally he is mentioned as Baude de Rhains (Reims ). Probably Baude Cordier first worked in his native city of Reims and later at the court of the Duke of Burgundy Philip the Bold. This he accompanied on trips to Avignon and Milan.

In " Civico Museo Bibliografico Musicale " in Bologna is the manuscript of a "Gloria". Seven of his " rondeaux " kept in " Oxford Bodleian Library". Music History he is somewhere between the Franco- Flemish Guillaume de Machaut Guillaume Dufay and he used a style of music that is known as Ars subtilior.

Works

Among his works are ten three -to four- part chansons from the Chantily Codex (1955 in Antwerp published ) and a fragment of a three-part exhibition received. His Rondi, such as " Tant plus vous voy, tant plus me ensembles belle " or " Amans Amés secrètement " follow the compositional scheme of the late 14th century .. Cordiers love song " Belle, Bonne, Sage " is a beautiful example of the eyes music of the Renaissance period.
