Bavaria (train)

The Bavaria was a long-distance train which traveled from 1954 to 1969 as D- train between Munich and Geneva, and from 1969 to 2002 between Munich and Zurich. From 1969 to 1977, he sailed as Trans - Europ -Express ( TEE), then as D- train, Intercity and Euro City.

History

In the winter timetable 1954, the railway administrations of Germany, Austria and Switzerland established an express train with the train numbers 180/183 from Munich to Lindau and Zurich to Geneva. He was given the Latin name of Bavaria, "Bavaria". The path of the train resulted in its central part on the non-electrified railway Allgäu. Therefore, the fast was initially drawn between Munich and Lindau steam locomotives of Class 18.4, the former Bavarian S 3/6. Starting in 1962, stationed at Bw Kempten diesel locomotives of Class V 200.1 took over the traction of Bavaria on the Allgäu Railway.
