Bayrak

Bayrak Radyo Televizyon Kurumu ( GRT, ie: be- re - te; German flag radio - TV broadcaster ) is the national radio and television network of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

History

The Bayrak Radyo was founded as a counterweight to the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation. The first broadcast of Bayrak Radyo was sent on 25 December 1963 by a garage and had a range of 2.5 km. The power supply was ensured by two car batteries.

On February 24, 1964, the ' Bayrak Radyo ' has been technically upgraded, so that the station could be received all over the island. Until 1974 the Bayrak Radyo could send almost constantly.

After the founding of the Turkish state in Cyprus ( tr: Kıbrıs Türk Devleti ) the ' Bayrak Radyo ' has been expanded so that in 1976 first television programs were broadcast. Previously, the devices were removed for the black and white TV in Diyarbakir and brought to Northern Cyprus on July 19, 1976 the broadcasting company was renamed Bayrak Radyo Televizyonu.

Major renovations at the BRT were the FM radio transmission (4 December 1977), color television (July 1, 1979) and the link connection between Ankara and Lefkoşa (6 July 1979).

After the founding of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in 1983 a law was passed which gave the BRT the status of an autonomous institution and in Bayrak Radyo Televizyon Kurumu ( Bayrak Radio Television Institute) rechristened.

In 1997, the BRT Institute was connected to the Internet, created a website presentation and a television channel and two radio stations made ​​available online.
