Bayreuther Osterfestival

The Bayreuth Easter Festival is a music festival that takes place annually at Easter at historic locations in Bayreuth in Bavaria. The proceeds from the benefit concerts goes for children with cancer.

History

Founder Ulrich Schubert, the festival has established in 1994 with the participation of August Ever thing, the Australian conductor Sir Charles Mackerras and Andreas Goeldel to life.

Purpose is to help children with cancer in the region through donations from the proceeds of benefit concerts; promoting young musicians through performances in margravial opera house and other buildings margravial and international understanding through making music together.

Since then, the festival has expanded, starting from the symphonic concerts of the International Youth Orchestra Academy in Margravial Opera House to the genera symphonic and chamber music, sacred oratorios, organ concerts, jazz and salon orchestra concerts. 2007 was also the genre of opera by Antonio Salieri's Prima la musica e poi le parole, under the baton of Christoph Ulrich Meier, Tannhäuser - conductor at the Bayreuth Festival in 2007, in Mark Opernhaus in a staged premiere of a new edition in German language was presented, integrated into the event structure of the festival. 2008 Iphigenia in Tauris was conducted by Christoph Willibald Gluck as the second opera project. George Frideric Handel's Alcina was brought to the stage in 2009.

The Margrave Opera House was until 2009 main venue. Here the symphony concerts, the Festival Brass with Bob Ross ( fender bender ) and the opera took place. Since the reconstruction of the opera house in Bayreuth other margravial building be used as a venue. So the Symphony Orchestra 2011 played for the first time in the monastery church of St. Georgen. Furthermore, there is Passion music in the city and hospital church Bayreuth, chamber music at the Historical Town Hall, in Wahnfried and the Rococo Hall at Steingraeber & Söhne, organ concerts in the castle church and jazz and salon orchestra events in catering establishments in Bayreuth.

Artistic Director of the festival is Ulrich Schubert. Administrative headquarters of the Cultural and Social Foundation International Young Orchestra Academy ( IJOA ), which acts as the bearer of the Bayreuth Easter Festival, the Music Center Pleystein / Oberpfalz. There are also offices in Bayreuth and Jena. Schubert is also President of the Foundation. Deputy Board Member of Parliament is Hartmut Koschyk, other board members are Ulrich Jörs ( operational board of directors) and Horst Melzer. 2007 has set up a Board of Trustees launched the Foundation. The Board brings together personalities from politics, business and public life. Members are Katharina Wagner, Dagmar Wöhrl, Peter Hahne, Claus Hipp and Thomas Hacker.

In addition to the Bayreuth Easter Festival and the Easter Festival Northern Upper Palatinate, the Foundation also organizes the International Young Orchestra Academy.

From 2004 to 2011 Miguel Gómez Martínez was the conductor of the symphony orchestra. Another educational column in the structure of the Foundation for the advancement of young musicians are the international master courses in which a targeted deficiency instrumentalists from the orchestra academy, such as Double bass player, be encouraged.

Sponsors make it possible that the proceeds from the entrance fees in favor cancer and critically ill children can be donated at the Klinikum Bayreuth. The main sponsors of the Bayreuth Easter Festival, the VR-Bank Bayreuth ( in association with R V Insurance, Union Investment and Building Society Schwäbisch Hall ), the engine Nützel group Bayreuth, the Arvena Congress Hotel, the town of Bayreuth, Upper Franconia Foundation, microdrop and the Jenoptik AG.

To make the Festival Republic, Bayerischer Rundfunk Studio Franken, Bayern 4 Klassik, Crescendo, Germany radio culture and Müller Verlag were media partnerships with radio Mainwelle, North Kurier, TMT Multimedia Productions, closed.

Up to now be transferred to the Children's Hospital in Bayreuth and other facilities to support cancer and terminally ill children by the benefit concerts of the Bayreuth Easter Festival around 800,000 euros.
