BBC Scotland

BBC Scotland is a part of the British Broadcasting Corporation, the public service broadcaster in the United Kingdom. It is the de facto national broadcaster of Scotland, which is autonomous from the BBC headquarters in London. The headquarters of BBC Scotland is located at Pacific Quay on the south bank of the River Clyde beside the STV headquarters and the Glasgow Science Centre.

BBC Scotland also has offices with a newsroom, and a small television studio and radio studio near the Scottish Parliament. In addition, the broadcaster still has an office in Parliament. Spread over Scotland, BBC Scotland has broadcast centers in Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness and Dumfries. The BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra was also established until 2006 in the BBC Scotland 's Queen Margaret Drive base before it went into the city center. The orchestra appears regularly in Scotland and worldwide.

BBC Scotlands biggest competitor is STV (formerly Scottish Television and Grampian Television), which does not send scotland far despite its name. STV broadcasts are limited to the urban centers of Northern and Central Scotland, while Border Television covering the southern part.
