Bealach na Bà

The "Pass of the cattle " until the late 20th century was the only road that connected the Applecross peninsula with the rest of the country.

The Bealach na Ba ( Gaelic for "cattle passport ") is an on the Applecross Peninsula, High Country, situated known mountain pass with a twisting one-lane road, which rises to 626 meters. The road branches off between Shieldaig and Lochcarron to the hamlet Tornapress of the A896. It is one of the only road in the Highlands, which is applied as the mountain passes in the Alps, with tight hairpin curves that wind up with gradients of up to 20% of the mountain.
