Beals (crater)

52.61

Beals is an impact crater near the eastern edge of the apparent lunar front side and can be observed due to its location from the Earth only under favorable Librationsbedingungen directly. It lies immediately south-southwest of the crater Riemann, so that touch the crater rims and overlap in places. Directly to the west is the large crater Gauss.

Beals shows only slight signs of erosion without significant impacts within its borders. The inner crater wall is narrower in the north- northeastern part and penetrates there in the outer wall of the crater ' Riemann ' a. The south side of Beals is slightly irregular in shape. The crater floor has a few low hills close to its center.

Marriage ' Beals ' in 1982 by the International Astronomical Union ( IAU) received his own name, he was known as ' Riemann A'.
