Bear Mountain State Park

Bear Mountain State Park is a 20.51 km ² State Park on the west side of the Hudson River in upstate New York. It is located in Orange and Rockland County. The nearest town is Jones Point.

The park was opened on 5 July 1913 after the plans of a transfer of Sing Sing Prison to Bear Mountain had failed. In the twenties, the park was known for winter sports, which resulted in a bid for the Olympic Winter Games 1932.

The Bear Mountain Bridge is located north of the park and was the first bridge south of Albany, which went across the Hudson.
