Beat Glogger

Beat Glogger ( born March 12, 1960 in Zurich ) is a Swiss science journalist, television presenter and author.

Life

Beat Glogger studied from 1979 to 1984 Microbiology and Biochemistry at the University of Zurich and graduated with a degree in natural sciences. From 1985 to 1987 he worked as an intern at Science Magazine MTW Swiss television as well as a journalism training at the media - training center. From 1987 to 1999 he was editor and moderator of MTW and from 1994 also editorial director of the shipment. Under his leadership, the magazine of the stately educational program changed to the popular science magazine information.

From 1999 to 2002 he lived as a correspondent for the Swiss television and freelance science journalist in Central America, from where he supplied various newspapers, magazines and television stations in Germany and Switzerland with work. Since his return to Switzerland in 2003, he worked with his agency Scitec - Media GmbH in the field of science communication. In addition, since 2005 he is Director of Studies for Science Journalism at the media - training center, the Swiss School of Journalism. Since November 2009, he also manages the weekly knowledge - sides of the commuter newspaper 20 minutes.

Glogger published several popular science books and two science thriller. For the first- Xenesis In 2005 he was awarded the Prix Media at the Academy of Natural Sciences Switzerland.

  • 2006: Nomination for the Descartes Prize for Science Communication, awarded by the European Commission
  • 2008: Swiss science journalist of the year, for the article " The Mutants attack " on the subject of gene doping, in the magazine, No. 30, 2008
