Beatrice of Castile (1293–1359)

Beatrice of Castile (* 1293, † October 25, 1359 ) was a princess of Castile and 1325-1357 Queen of Portugal.

Beatrix was born as the daughter of King Sancho IV of foolhardy. She had six siblings, including King Ferdinand IV of Castile and Elisabeth Duchess of Brittany, wife of Duke Johann III.

1309 she married the Portuguese throne, and as this in 1325 as Alfonso IV ascended the throne, she became queen of Portugal ( as a wife, not as a sovereign in its own right ).

It is not to be confused with Beatrice of Castile (1242-1303), a half-sister of her father, the. Than wife of Alfonso III 1253-1279 also was Queen of Portugal.
