Béatrice-von-Wattenwyl-Haus

The Béatrice -von- Watteville (originally Frisching House ) is a city palace on the Junkerngasse 59 in the old town of Bern.

It was built from 1705 to 1706 as the southernmost offshore extension of the city 's seat of Samuel Frisching ( II ), designed by Joseph Abeille. Due to a donation Treaty of 1929, the house passed after the death of Jacob Emanuel Wattenwyl 1934 to the Swiss Confederation and bares the name of the wife of the deceased.

Today the house is used for receptions of the Bundesrat; regularly called the Wattevile talks between the Federal Council and the five governing parties SVP, SP, FDP, CVP and BDP are held here.

The Cathedral of the platform visible from the main facade with grand staircase, balcony, pediment with coat of arms of the noble family Frisching and roof skylights is directed to the south; the front terraces and tiered gardens give it a monumental character.
