Beatriz Merino

Martha Beatriz Merino Lucero (* November 15, 1947 ) is a Peruvian politician. In 2003, she was so far the only Prime Minister of the country for almost half a year.

Beatriz Merino studied at Harvard and London jurisprudence. From 1990 to 1992 she was a Senator and Congressman from 1995 to 2000. From 23 June to 12 December 2003 was Prime Minister and was dismissed by President Alejandro Toledo, after there have been rumors that she was a lesbian.

Merino has been used in the course of their professional and political career, especially for women's rights, including the Council of Women World Leaders, at the Business Women's Initiative against HIV / AIDS and as a board member of the International Women's Forum (IWF ).

By 2011, Beatriz Merino worked as a so-called "people's lawyer " ( Defensora del Pueblo) in Peru, then by early 2012, as President of the Federation of Peruvian pension funds.
