Becharof Lake

With an area of 1,170 km ² it is after the Iliamna Lake the second largest lake in Alaska. It is situated 37 kilometers southwest of the city lies in the Egegik and Becharof National Wildlife Refuge. The lake is drained by the Egegik River westward to Bristol Bay.

The lake was named in 1868 by the naturalist William Healey Dall after the Russian navigator Dmitry Bocharov, who explored Alaska in 1788.
