Bedford College, London

The Bedford College was a college of the University of London. It was founded in 1849 by Elizabeth Jesser Reid. It was the first British women's college and took until 1965 for the first time on male students. The college was accepted into the University of London in 1900. In 1985, the Bedford College was combined with the Royal Holloway College. The United College has since been officially Royal Holloway and Bedford New College, but occurs in public under the name of Royal Holloway, University of London.
