Beech-Nut

The Beech-Nut Corporation is an American manufacturer of children's and baby food. Owner since 2005, the Swiss food and consumer goods company Hero Group.

The company was founded in 1891 under the name The Imperial Packing Company.

According to Gerber Products Company, the company was in the meantime the second- largest U.S. manufacturer of baby food.

Since 1979 it belonged to Nestlé and was sentenced in 1987 because of a violation of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to a penalty in the record high of 2.2 million U.S. dollars. The company had tried colored sugar water to sell as apple juice for children.

In 2005 the company was acquired by the Swiss food company Hero Group together with Milnot.

The company's headquarters and all facilities in North America are to be laid up until 2009 in the town of Florida in Montgomery County in upstate New York.
