Behnisch Architekten

Behnisch Architekten is a global architectural firm with a wide range of services. The architectural firm Behnisch Architekten worked for both public as well as for private clients projects in all areas of schools and universities across residential, office buildings, museums and concert halls to sports facilities and swimming pools.

History

The Stuttgart-based Behnisch Architects was founded in 1989 by Stefan Behnisch, originally as a branch office of Behnisch & Partner, the office of Günter Behnisch.

In 1991, two years after the founding, the office became independent and began to realize projects not only in Germany but also abroad. In 1999, a second office in Los Angeles, California, founded, which was closed at the end of 2011. Instead, the office in Boston, Massachusetts, founded in 2007, is responsible for projects in North America. In 2009, added another office in Munich.

Since 2005, the office operates as Behnisch Architekten. Names previously used reflected the respective partnerships, for example, Behnisch, Behnisch & Partner. The office is headed by Stefan Behnisch, together with the respective local partners, Robert Matthew Noblett in Boston, Robert Hösle in Munich and Stefan Rappold in Stuttgart. Together, the three offices employ more than 90 employees.

Works (selection)

Behnisch Architects are currently working on a number of projects in Germany and abroad, including the headquarters of Unilever Germany and the living Marco Polo Tower in Hamburg's HafenCity, the Maritime Museum Oceaneum Stralsund, the residential complex Baden Carrée in Karlsruhe, the National Center for Tumour Diseases in Heidelberg, Harvard 's Allston campus in Boston, three research buildings Digiteolabs in Greater Paris, a concert hall in Ventspils, Latvia, INSPI Health Campus in Malmö, Sweden, and the residential tower Brooklyn Arts Tower in New York, which is realized together with Studio MDA.
