Behold… the Arctopus

Behold ... the Arctopus is an American band from New York.

History

The band was formed in 2001 by guitarist Colin Marston and Mike Lerner. After they had already played one and a half years together, the drummer Charlie Zeleny joined the band and completed the occupation. Marston and Lerner had until addition there are two demos of Zeleny already published online, in which a drum machine was been used. 2003 followed the demo Arctopocalypse Now ... Warmageddon Later, in 2005, the EP nano Nucleonic Cyborg Summoning joined. To promote the EP, followed in June of that same year appeared in the USA with Time of Orchids and Genghis Tron. In 2006, a split release joined together with Orthrelm which contained the new song Paincave. The cover of the publication was designed by Michel " Away" Langevin ( Voivod ). In the same year the compilation nano Nucleonic Cyborg Summoning, which included the eponymous EP and the demo Arctopocalypse Now ... Warmageddon Later, as well as four live songs appeared. Was released in 2007 on Black Market Activities debut album Skull Grid, the 2012 second album Horrorscension joined with the same label.

Style

Particularly characteristic of the band is the use of a Warr guitar, 12-string guitar, which covers the spectrum of sound of the bass and the guitar. The guitar is played by tapping usually by Marston. According to Marisa Brown of Allmusic was nano- Nucleonic Cyborg Summoning strongly influenced by metal, classical music of the 20th century and the improvisational nature of jazz elle. Conor Fynes of metal- observer.com described the music on Horrorscension as technically demanding extreme metal, with no clear song structure was evident in the songs.
