Bel Canto (Band)
Bel Canto is a Norwegian music group that was founded in 1985 by Nils Johansen, Anneli Drecker and Geir Jenssen. Jenssen left the band in 1990 and since then has been Biosphere mainly through the publications of his ambient project known. The singer Anneli Drecker interrupted his work again and again for several albums under his own name, with other bands as well as for theater and film projects. Nils Johansen also often works with his other band Vajas.
The first two albums were released under the name Bel Kanto, since even a choir group was called in Norway.
The music of the Group has been transformed with a time of avant-garde gothic to melodic pop music. This was due to the cooperation with the Belgian independent label crammed discs as well as many of the artists represented there. The texts of the pieces are in German, English, Spanish and French.
