Béla Kéler

Adalbert Keler, actually: Adalbert Paul von Keler, also known by its Hungarian name Béla Kéler known ( * February 13 1820 in Bardejov, county Sáros, † November 20, 1882 in Wiesbaden) was a Hungarian composer of Slovak origin.

Life

Keler was after a study of the laws and Agricultural Sciences students from Simon Sechter, the teacher Anton Bruckner. He was a violinist at the Theater an der Wien and worked from 1854 to 1856 as a conductor in Berlin. Seven years he was conductor of the 10th Infantry Regiment in Galicia, before he settled down as music director in Wiesbaden.

Béla Kéler is an almost forgotten composer today. He composed many marches and dances, which are attributed to the salon music. Remained popular are his comedy Overture in E flat major op.73, the Hungarian comedy Overture in A major op.108 and the waltz on the beautiful Rhine I, commemorative, your op.83 for chorus and piano or orchestra salon.

Keler died in 1882 in Wiesbaden and was buried in the old cemetery.
