The planning of the ring motorway passes to the Master Plan of Belgrade Institute of Urban Affairs ( Urbanistički zavod ) back. The construction work proceeded sporadically over 17 years, but have been intensified since 2005. The plan so far is that the important sector B of the ring road should be built as a street car or half highway with a road and each one lane per direction. After the completion of the sector B as highway expansion is the whole route as highway with two carriageways in planning.

Sectors

The Belgrade bypass consists of three sectors:

  • Sector B: Dobanovci - Bubanj Potok ( 37.3 km ); Section of Dobanovci - Beli Potok (29,9 km ) partially completed.
  • Sector C: Bubanj Potok - Vinča - Pančevo (31 miles)

Sector A

Sector A, leads which of Batajnica to Dobanovci and establishes a direct connection between the A3 and A1 ( Ring Road ) is 10.0 km long and was again divided into two sections: The first section comprises of Batajnica from a distance of 3, 9 kilometers ( km 184.738 to km 188.680 ), the second a 6.1 km long route to the motorway junction Dobanovci (km 188.680 to km 194.782 ).

After the final routing, by the company Koridor 10 doo has been planned, specified, the Serbian government adopted in September 2009, negotiations with local property owners to due to the expropriation of their land. The total area for the construction of the highway is 147 ha After the conclusion of the negotiations and securing financing was begun with the construction of the highway.

Construction of the first section was October 21, 2010, for the second December 29, 2010 in construction. As a construction company Strabag carried out the construction work. The contracts were signed in the spring of 2010. The cost of building the first section totaled 60 million euros, and provided by the EIB. The second piece cost 55 million euros and was financed by the EBRD. It was completed by May 2012, the traffic handover on May 3

Sector B

2005, ground was broken for the construction of a portion of Dobanovci to Bubanj Potok (sector B). The 37.3 km long route includes 5 viaducts and 4 tunnels, of which the tunnel Strazevica, with 730 meters, is the longest.

The realization of this section is performed in several stages:

  • Section 1: Dobanovci - Surčin (7,8 km; than half motorway completed )
  • Section 2: Surčin - Bridge over the Sava (4.9 km; than half motorway completed )
  • Part 3: Bridge over the Sava - Ostružnica (4.1 km; finished as a semi- motorway )
  • Section 4: Ostružnica - Orlovača (7,7 km; than half motorway completed )
  • Section 5: Orlovača - Beli Potok (5.4 km; finished as a semi- motorway )
  • Part 6: Beli Potok - Bubanj Potok (7.4 km; planned)

By November 2008, the 24.5km distance between Dobanovci and Orlovača with a road and each one lane in each direction has been completed and will be released on November 10 for the traffic. The route includes a connection point ( Ostružnica ), a motorway junction in leaf clover shape ( Orlovača ), as well as two tunnels Lipak and Železnik, both of which are already completed with two tubes. The construction of the second carriageway along the entire route is in the planning.

On 3 May 2012, the 5.4 km long section of Orlovaca was opened up to the tunnel Stazevica. The section was first designed as a half highway, wherein the tunnel has been constructed with Stazevica two tubes. The portion of cost 56 million euros, 25 million euros have been spent on the tunnel.

The tender for the last part should first start of 2012. The start was delayed due to lack of funding. In March 2013 it was announced that the construction is to be funded through a loan from the EIB in the amount of 80 million euros. The scheduled for completion end of 2014 is to be moved again. The section is to be realized with two lanes and three lanes in each direction.

Sector C

The sector C is the most complex section of the ring road. Its construction includes the construction of a 1190 m long new bridge over the Danube, 11 viaducts and two tunnels. The 31 km route is a better connection between the suburbs of Belgrade and Pančevo permit without having to drive through the center of Belgrade first. With the construction of the sector C is the level of traffic on the Pančevo, the second most important bridge in Belgrade, are reduced. In Pančevo the beltway to build on the highway 10 and thus allow a continuous motorway link between Sid ( in the west) and Vršac (in the east ). It is assumed that construction costs of 205 million euros. In February 2014 the first planning details were released.

Future

To this day it is yet uncertain whether north of Belgrade also a highway to be built, which would be the A1 motorway connecting with the highway 10 and thus the ring road runs close to Belgrade. End of October 2009, together with the Chinese construction company China Road and Bridge Corporation ( CRBC ) a construction contract, which includes a construction of a new 1.5 km long bridge over the Danube north of Zemun, each with two carriageways and two lanes, as well as access roads providing a length of 21.5 km, signed.
