Belle and Sebastian (Japanese TV series)

Belle and Sebastian (Japanese名犬 ジョリィ, Meiken Jori, dt " Joly, the famous dog ") is an anime television series from the year 1981 from the studios Toho and MK Productions. It is based on the children's book Belle et Sébastien by Cécile Aubry. The anime was translated into several languages ​​and broadcast on German television in the early 1990s.

Content

Together with his Great Pyrenees Belle ( in the Japanese version Joly ) and the little dog Poochie pulls the seven year-old Sebastian through the Pyrenees. Previously, he lived with a foster family, since his mother died. But after he meets Belle, which is kept and hunted by the police for dangerous, he runs away to save the dog. So he is constantly repeatedly tricked with him on the run and need the police or overcome other difficulties.

Production and publication

The anime was created in 1981 at the Toho Studios and MK Productions, directed by Kenji Hayakawa. As producers, Nobuaki Hosoda and Yoshio Katō were responsible. The character design designed Shuichi Seki and the music was composed by Akihiro Komori. The 52 episodes were first shown on April 7, 1981 to June 22, 1982 program of NHK in Japan.

In the 1980s, followed by translations into French, English, Italian and Spanish. In 1992, the series was first broadcast in German, the RTL. This was followed by repeats at RTL2. The German version was changed so that Sebastian's mother is not dead but works in a circus and has therefore given away him.
