Bellville is part of the City of Tygerberg, one of six districts of the South African city of Cape Town. Bellville is located northeast from the center of Cape Town, some 15 kilometers away. 2011 Bellville had 112 507 inhabitants.

History

Bellville emerged from a small settlement called Twelfth Mile Stone. In 1861 the settlement was officially proclaimed to the village and at the same time in honor of Charles Bell, at the time an administrator of the Cape Colony, named. 1940 Bellville received city rights before a municipality of Cape Town in 1979.

Economy and infrastructure

Today Bellville acts primarily as a residential area on the outskirts of Cape Town. In Bellville South, the industrial area of the city, today, especially paper manufacturers, based representatives of the food industry as well as brick kilns, tile manufacturers and fertilizer producers.
