Belmond is a place in Wright County in the U.S. state of Iowa. It has about 2,560 inhabitants ( 2000 census ) in an area of 7.4 km ². The city, founded in 1856 is located at the geographical coordinates 42 ° 50'50 "North and 93 ° 36'44 " West.

History

Destroyed or damaged on 14 October 1966 an F5 tornado over 600 houses and 75 shops. Six people were killed and a large part of the city was damaged.
