Ben Folds Five

Ben Folds Five are a piano -dominated rock band with three members, based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The band consists of Ben Folds (lead singer, pianist / keyboardist, songwriter ), Robert Sledge ( E-/Kontrabass ) and Darren Jessee (drums). From the mid- 1990s, Ben Folds Five released five albums, which you bestowed a loyal fan base and critical acclaim. Especially the absence of guitars in favor of Folds ' drifting piano, was felt to be original in the indie rock scene. Ben Folds himself described the musical style of the band as punk rock for sissies.

After the band broke up in 2000, put Ben Folds continues its previously started a solo career and released solo albums under his own name. After a joint concert in 2008 appears again in 2012 a new Ben Folds Five album. "The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind " was released on 14 September 2012. It attacked the band for the own sound of the 90s again. Critically, the album was favorably welcomed.

The often garbling band name is to go back to the fact that Five is better than listening to loud Three Folds.
