Ben Stoneham, Baron Stoneham of Droxford

Benjamin Russell Mackintosh Stoneham, Stoneham of Droxford Baron ( born August 28, 1948) is a British peer, journalist and politician.

Stoneham became involved in politics at first for Labour. At the age of 29 years he was a candidate of Labour in the by-election in the constituency of Saffron Walden .. He scored 14.6% of the vote. Later, he was treasurer of the Campaign for Labour Victory. Along with many of the leaders of this campaign, he later went to the Social Democratic Party. Stoneham was the SDP candidate in the parliamentary elections 1983 and 1987 in the constituency of Stevenage. In 1983 he achieved the best result of a social democratic Nichamtsinhabers and lost nearly 1700 votes.

2004 and 2010 he was a candidate for the district assembly of Winchester.

Since 2003 he has been active with the Liberal Democrats .. From 2003 to 2010 he was managing director of the party under the party leadership of Charles Kennedy, and Nick Clegg.

On 17 January 2011, he was raised as Baron Stoneham of Droxford for Life Peer. His inaugural address was delivered on 20 January 2011.
