Bence Rakaczki

Bence Rakaczki ( born May 14, 1993, Miskolc, Hungary, † January 16, 2014 ) was a Hungarian football goalkeeper. From 2012 until his death he was in the pro squad of the Hungarian first division Diósgyőri VTK.

Life and career

Bence Rakaczki began his career as a football player at the age of eight years at the sports school Miskolc. Two years later he was admitted to the junior level of Diósgyőri VTK, where he henceforth went through all youth leagues. Due to its performance in the youth teams of the 1.98 m wide Goalkeeper finally made in the season 2011/12 the initial leap into the professional squad of DVTK. There he was coached by Miklós Benczés 30 November 2011 his competitive debut in a 1-1 draw in the first knockout round first leg of the Magyar Kupa 2011/12 against the Gyori ETO FC. Even with the 1:4 defeat in the return leg was Rakaczki goal. Both matches he played over an entire game. His official pro debut for DVTK he gave on May 4, 2012, when he came off the bench in the league game against the Pécsi Mecsek FC by the coach and athletic director Lázár Szentes after 71 minutes for Norbert Tajti. Previously, he had been four times as a substitute goalkeeper in the squad, as well as on 11 June 2011 at the last league game of his club against the Orosháza FC before the resurgence in the first Hungarian League. In the last three games of the season 2011/12 Rakaczki was goalkeeper of DVTK. With three wins and one defeat, in which he played this season, he suffered six goals.

After the end of the season Rakaczki complained of a growing feeling of weakness and muscle pain. After extensive tests 19 -year-old was diagnosed with leukemia in June 2012 at the. The illness forced him to withdraw from professional sports. The call came solved a big echo beyond the borders of addition. Many people responded to the call of his club for Rakaczkis to donate blood treatment. In Spain, donations went for him. Additional support European Rakaczkis received, among others by auctioning revenues of signed jerseys well-known players from various European football and ice hockey leagues. On January 29, 2013 Rakaczki received a bone marrow transplant after a suitable donor in the United States had been found. The treatment resulted in a temporary improvement in his health.

Rakaczki died on January 16, 2014 of complications from cancer. At the funeral the next night in DVTK Stadium, which was also visited on the following days of the fans, was attended by around 2,000 people. Rakaczki was the second player from a Hungarian first division, who died in the 2013/14 season after Akeem Adams.
