Benedicte Van der Maar

Bénédicte Van der Maar ( born October 27, 1968 in Paris ) is a French photo artist. She lives and works in Paris.

Biography

Bénédicte Van der Maar received his first instruction as a photographer at a friend and pupil of Jeanloup Sieff. They photographed people and situations in New York, Italy, Israel and later in India. Her work " Accumulations " was discovered by the Paris gallery Le Simoun and presented in 2007in a solo exhibition. In 2008, the daily newspaper France Soir published one of her photographs under the title " The New Yorker".

Since 2008 she combines her experience of studio photography with their travel experiences, in order to approach the theme of the fragility of the world as a photographer. The conceptual photo series " Fragile " was exhibited during the "Nuit de la photographie contemporaine " in Paris. The focus of her work as a photographer, the question is what position the woman takes in changing societies and in different cultures. In 2010 she went to Haiti and photographed the daily struggle for survival in Cité Soleil. Doctors without Borders ( Medecins sans Frontieres MSF ) publish their work under the title: "The children of Cholera ". In 2011, she follows with her ​​photography series the "Little Buddha" in the Nepalese jungle. The magazine Paris-Match published her photo reportage.

Work

Bénédicte Van der Maar moves with her ​​photography series " Fragile" and "Never Ending" in the tradition of French photography of Robert Doisneau, Willy Ronis and Henri Cartier -Bresson, people in different everyday situations they during and after the were exposed to world War II and showed.
