Benetice (Světlá nad Sázavou)

Benetice ( German Benetitz ) is a district of the city Svetla nad Sázavou. It is located four kilometers north-west of Svetla nad Sázavou and belongs to Okres Havlíčkův Brod.

Geography

Benetice located at the western foot of the Žebrákovský Kopec (601 m) in the forests of the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands right side of the Sázava.

Neighboring towns are Svatojanske Hutě and Opatovice in the north, Žebrákov in the northeast, Horni Březinka in the east, Dolni Březinka to the southeast, and Mrzkovice Leštinka in the south, and Mezilesí Pavlíkov in the southwest, and Kostelík Vilémovice in the west and Pavlov in the northwest.

History

The village was first mentioned in 1375 as Beneczicze. In Benetice earlier there was a glass factory. Field names such as Na sušírnách and the pond Sklárenský fishpond can be derived from it. 1787 is the name Benetitz detectable. After the abolition of patrimonial Benetice formed in 1850 a municipality in the district Ledeč. In the course of municipal reform of 1960, the city was incorporated on January 1, 1961 by Mrzkovice and assigned to the Okres Havlíčkův Brod. Together with Mrzkovice Benetice was founded in 1980 as the hamlet of Svetla nad Sázavou. The village consists of 31 houses, which were used in 2001 for residential purposes 16. On the eastern outskirts of the forester is a recreational camp. This served until 1990 as a pioneer camp and it is visited by young people from Hungary, Poland and Germany.

In the village square of Benetice grow a lime tree, which was planted in 1945.
