Benjamin I. Taylor

Benjamin Irving Taylor (born 21 December 1877 in New York City; † September 5, 1946 in Harrison, New York) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1913 and 1915 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Benjamin Irving Taylor attended public schools. He graduated from High School in New Rochelle. Then he studied law at the Columbia Law School in New York City, where in 1899 he graduated. After receiving his license to practice law in the same year he began to practice in Port Chester in Westchester County. Between 1905 and 1913 he was supervisor in Harrison. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1912 for the 63rd Congress Taylor was in the 25th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Theron Akin on March 4, 1913. He suffered in his renewed candidacy in 1914 a defeat and then retired after the March 3, 1915 from the Congress of.

After his conference time he practiced as a lawyer in Port Chester again. In 1921 he was re-elected supervisor in Harrison - a post he held continuously with the exception of two years until December 1945. He died about a year after the end of World War II in Harrison. His body was then buried at the Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla.
