Benk Korthals

Benk Korthals ( born October 5, 1944 in Voorschoten ) is a Dutch politician of the Volkspartij voor de Vrijheid Democracy.

Life

Korthals studied at the University of Leiden Law. From September 16 1982 to August 3, 1998 he was a deputy in the Second Chamber of the States General. From August 1998 to 22 July 2002, he was Minister of Justice in the Cabinet Kok II Short term: he was of 23 May 2002 to 22 July 2002; deputy and then Defense Minister in the Cabinet Balkenende I until his resignation on 12 December 2002. Korthals is the successor of Mark Verheijen Party Leader of the Volkspartij voor Vrijheid en Démocratie since May 22, 2011. Korthals is married, has three children and lives in Rotterdam.
