Benoît Duteurtre

Benoît Duteurtre ( born March 20, 1960 in Sainte-Adresse, Seine- Maritime ) is a French music critic and writer.

Life

Duteurtre is the son of Jean -Claude Duteurtre and his wife Marie -Claire Georges and great-grandson of the politician René Coty. His school, he studied at the private Catholic school, Collège Saint -Joseph in Le Havre.

1975 Duteurtre asked the playwright Armand Salacrou to read one of his texts. This was thrilled, encouraged him to continue writing and promised to support him to the forces. Since it has been recognized and promoted musical talent in school Duteurtres, he pulled the music before writing until further notice. In 1977 he entered the University of Rouen to study music. In the same year he met Karlheinz Stockhausen and Iannis Xenakis in the following year. 1979 Duteurtre took his chance to study for one month at György Ligeti and in music, he also received a graduation.

By his own admission, Duteurtre writing began to see now as a kind of counterpoint to the music. 1982 had he read Samuel Beckett 's text Nuit and this immediately sat down for a publication in the Revue Minuit. During this time, Duteurtre settled in Paris and performed as a pianist at the Théâtre des Amandiers (Nantes, Loire -Atlantique ).

As a writer Duteurtre could with his first novel in 1985 Sommeil perdu very successful debut. As a result, he published a novel almost every year and also appeared regularly as an essayist to the public. In literary journals such as the Nouvelle Revue Française, L'Atelier du roman or L' Infini he published as well as in magazines such as the Revue des Deux Mondes or Commentaire.
