Benson Farb

Benson Stanley Color ( born October 25, 1967 in Norristown, Pennsylvania) is an American mathematician who deals with geometric group theory, algebra and low-dimensional topology.

He graduated from Cornell University with a bachelor's degree and in 1994 his doctorate under William Thurston at Princeton University ( Relatively hyperbolic and automatic groups with applications to negatively curved manifolds ). Color is a professor at the University of Chicago.

He was from 1999 to 2004 managing editor of Geometriae dedicata.

In 2012 he became a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society.

He is married to the mathematician Amie Wilkinson since 1996.
