Warty barberry (Berberis verruculosa )

The Warty barberry (Berberis verruculosa ) is a native of China plant species of the genus Berberis (Berberis ) in the family of Barberry ( Berberidaceae ).

Dissemination

The home of the warty barberry is located in China in the western Sichuan. It was introduced by Ernest Henry Wilson, who for Veitch and Sons plants collected from 1899 to 1905 in western and central China, in 1904 in Europe.

Description

The Warty Barberry is a dichtwüchsiger, evergreen shrub that reaches the stature heights of up to 2 meters. The one-year branches are rough and arching and covered with very fine brown initially, later black warts. The numerous leaves are small, their edges slightly bent, glossy dark green above and whitish below. The leaf spines are three parts and up to 2 cm long. The mostly solitary flowers are golden yellow. The cylindrical berries are black purple.

Use

Like many other barberries place this species as an ornamental use.
