Bernard Vaughan

Bernard Vaughan (* 1847 in Herefordshire, † 1922) was an English Roman Catholic priest and author of religious writings; He was the brother of Cardinal Herbert Vaughan. He was educated at Stonyhurst College and he became a member of the Jesuits. For 18 years he participated in the religious and secular life in Manchester in part, but went in 1901 to London, where he among other things, to concerned with helping those in need in the districts of Westminster and East End. His sermons on the " sins of society" in 1906 attracted great attention. He preached in Montreal in 1910, traveled to Canada, the United States and Alaska, and read in China, Japan, Italy and France. In 1915 he was chaplain of the British Expeditionary Force in Europe.
