Bernard Waley Cohen

Sir Bernard Nathaniel Waley Cohen, 1st Baronet (* May 29, 1914; † July 3, 1991 in Simonsbath, Somerset ) was London's Lord Mayor.

Bernard Waley Cohen was the son of the Anglo- Jewish chemist of the Royal Dutch Shell Company, Robert Waley Cohen and 1949-1984 Alderman of London's district Portsoken Ward. 1955/56, he was sheriff, 1960/61, subsequently Lord Mayor of the city. 1949 until his death was Waley Cohen Lieutenant of the Commission of Lieutenancy of London.

In 1957 he was elevated to a Knight Bachelor in 1961 for hereditary baronet. Waley Cohen was a member of the College 's Committee of University College London (1953-1980), the treasurer (1962-1970), then Vice-Chairman (1970) and from 1971 chairman.
