Bernardo Carvalho

Bernardo Carvalho ( born 1960 in Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian author and journalist. He was editor of the essay series Folhetim and correspondent for the Folha de São Paulo, New York and Paris. His works have been translated into twelve languages. 2009 Carvalho was a participant of the literature festival Festa Literaria Internacional de Paraty.

Literary Awards

Bernardo Carvalho has won numerous literary awards. For nine nights, his first publication in German language, he received the two most prestigious literary awards in Brazil: the Machado Assis and Jabuti. For Mongolia, he received the 2003 Award of the Associação Paulista de Arte de Críticos for the best novel ( Prêmio APCA ), 2004 Jabuti Award for Best Novel and was a finalist at Portugal Telecom de Literatura Prêmio 2004.
