Bernardo Kliksberg

Bernardo Kliksberg (* in Buenos Aires) is an Argentine economist, sociologist and journalist who was best known for his work in the field of development theory. He is regarded as the developer of the concept of social management (not to be confused with the social management ).

He is now Director of the members of the Inter-American Development Bank Inter-American Development Institute, based in Washington DC and worked in his career, among others, at the United Nations, as well as an advisor to President Néstor Kirchner and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in social issues.

Life and career

Kliksberg comes from a humble background, his parents were Jewish immigrants from Poland. He studied economics, sociology, accounting and management at the University of Buenos Aires. He is best known for his work from the 1970s that dealt with poverty reduction in Latin America. He has worked with concepts such as social capital and corporate social responsibility ( CSR), which eventually led him to the concept of social management.

As a journalist, he writes for Clarín, La Nación, O Globo and La República (Montevideo). He has also published a number of books and articles about the Holocaust.
